Accessibility by train
Bük is situated on the Szombathely-Sopron line which was taken over from the Hungarian State Railroads (MÁV) by the Győr-Sopron-Ebenfurt Railroad Rt. (GySEV) in 2001. The new owner rebuilt and electrified the whole line, replaced the vehicles and made several towns directly accessible with the result of European level in terms of quality and speed.
On the Szompathely-Sopron route the trains leave at each hour and certain trains run further to Austria (i.e. Sopron-Wiener Neustadt-Vienna, Südbahnhof / Szombathely-Szentgotthárd-Graz).
An international Intercity train also stops at Bük: the Corvinus IC running on the Vienna - Pécs route.
Passengers arriving from farther distances usually change train at Szombathely from where the journey takes only 20 minutes to get to Bük.
Visit the websites of GyESEV and MÁV to check timetables: (www.gysev.hu, illetve www.elvira.hu).
It is important to know that the train station is situated in Bük (and not in Bükfürdő) but from the coach station situated next to the train station you can easily get to Bükfürdő by any bus service. Consult www.volan.hu web-site to check bus timetables.
